Family Separations at Southern Border

Summary: The following is in response to the recent action to end immigration policies/actions that separate children from parents.

Statement:

We are encouraged to see that action is being taken to keep parents and children together. As a leading provider of early learning and early intervention services, we understand the important role parents play in a child’s development and overall success. We focus on the parent-child relationship in our parent-to-parent mentoring and support programs and through our Make the First Five Count™ national child development campaign. We must do everything we can to strengthen, not weaken or sever, this bond between a parent and child. Reversing the family separation policy aligns with this goal. Easterseals will continue to strongly advocate for policies and programs that promote the health and well-being of all children, especially infants and children with disabilities or other developmental delays.
